Anyone hear of this? The therapist today suggested this for my mom. I guess I need to get a rocking chair! I found a site that lists illnesses that it can help. Adoption is mentioned. Interesting.

children's music interest

B just requested his first non opera, non blues, non jazz CD. Something called the jonas brothers. I don't know who they are, but they sounded okay when I listened to amazon clips and I really respect the girl whose ipod he heard them on.

So this weekend he loaded up the CD player with Bessie Smith, Ella Fitzgerald, Tutto Pavarotti, and the Jonas Brothers. What a mix! Oh, and a Christmas carol CD...to get me in the mood, he said.

Keppra-----for seizures(that he's not had)
Clonidine-----to help him sleep

Harlequin Fetus Syndrome

My two littles mom had a baby this week. A little girl was born with Harlequin Fetus Syndrome. Mom has relinquished and the baby will go to a medical home soon. The girl has a life expectancy of 10-11 years. Where I am concerned is that the SW told me that both parents have to be carriers to have this genetic condition. Now I need to get both of my littles tested to see if they are carriers. If they are carriers then that would mean that they need to have genetic counseling and testing...

parents getting in the middle of children's quarrels

I always think, except in extreme cases like bullying, it's best to stay out.

I remember one mother who was determined her child was going to be a member of a clique I was in in 7th grade. She made a huge fuss, calling all the mothers and even the fathers at work, hounding them, and even calling the school and principal, insisting her child be included in activities outside of school. I always felt sorry for her because the mother essentially ruined her social life for the rest...

What kind of syrup do you favor?

Because I disliked what was on offer as a child, I never had syrup on anything. I found it disgusting and always used honey or nothing. Fast forward decades and a BF insisted I try real maple syrup on my pancakes when we were on a vaction in New Hampshire. Instant convert . So now I use pure maple and local honey (preferably sourwood honey)

Thanksgiving

I've had an epiphany about Thanksgiving. I'm putting DH in charge of cooking the turkey. I'm going to buy him a propane infrared turkey cooker. Similar to the turkey fryers, but doesn't use oil. This gives me more room in the oven and gives him something "manly" to do -- smoke a cigar outside while the bird cooks.

We'll need to experiment before the actual holiday.

Sometimes I do Hearts and regular solitaire (Klondike), but for a couple of years, I obssessed on Spider Solitaire.Now I am back to my old love, Minesweeper, which I haven't played since 2000 because Denyse hated my playing it. I started earlier this week and have played too many games at all 3 levels.

I have been having weird symptoms on and off for years now. I finally decided to look it up and got mild hypoglycemia (I thought it was going towards diabetic and didn't want to know). I have every one of those symptoms when it happens. Geez, I have even gained weight lately because I am hungry every few hours and if I don't eat I get those symptoms (I thought maybe it was depression). I have hypothyroidism and from what I have read I believe that they are connected.
