How long do y'all have your kids do homework over the weekend? Do you even set a limit? I don't like the idea of homework over the weekends. That's our time with our kids! Maybe I am overly sensitive right now though.

I can't decide what to do with A. I wonder if he should be homeschooled. My biggest issue with that is that he behaves just fine for me and dh. His behavior problems are when he is away from us. Well, not totally, surpirsingly I have never had any problems voiced at church. So, seems to me that he needs to learn how to behave in situations where I am not present. Reading/Writing/Grammar/Spelling HELP PLEASE

Ok, I am getting more and more concerned about Cara's reading/writing/spelling issues. We went to the doctor earlier this week and I completely forgot to ask about her hearing. We go back in a couple of months, but I think I am going to call today and see if I can schedule an earlier date just so I can rule it out and/or get it looked at.

The more I see her struggle with this, the more I question my ability to overcome the issues she is having. I think this is my first major...

I know some of you have mentioned this in the past, but today is my first experience in using it (though I still cannot get "in" to 2 teachers.) We are using something called Engrade, and it is beyond cool! I can see things right there, including grades for homework, and send a message to a teacher.

If only they entered all the homework it'd be perfect!

Has anyone seen the PBS Point of View Special titled Hold me Close - Let Me Go? It chronicles the inner-workings of The Mulberry Bush School in England. It is a school for severely emotionally disturbed children, ages 5-12. Here is a link to information....it was an interesting show.

I didn't do records or grades. Eek. They are going to let me do it freehand if I can come up with the curriculum. It's a blessing I reviewed the Hirsch with him he didn't cover when Denyse was supposedly home schooling him (she did great until she met Sheila). It took us a year to get caught up as well as teaching the current work.

I have come to realize that S and Jo both need to work on their cursive writing. S has even asked for a practice book which I am getting today for both girls. The school has not required cursive writing. They had to turn in all assignments in typed, they gave all the kids in school laptops. Anything they did in writing could be printed. I am amazed at how the schools have gotten lax on penmanship. I mentioned that this school may not be so lax so they may want to be prepared to use...

That is what my school always called The Pledge, Lord's prayer, and a couple of songs, plus announcements.

I had not intended to add these to home school, but we have, at B's request.

Oddly, I find it makes my work day go better. I think the Japanese do this as well at work.
