So while shopping with SIl at Dirt Cheap, found a great pait of Land's End all weather mocs for B (normally $50 paid $2, some kind of miracle fabric uppers). I love these kind of shoes for all ages because they wear like iron, keep your feet dry, and are attractive. I have about 4 pair in assorted colors. B I usually get in very dark blue or black for obvious reasons. These were a very nice skyble. After I got them home, I realized there was some type of glue across the top of one shoe....

Social security cards

Anyone have problems with social security having a different birth date then the birth certificate? I have A's social security card but there is a delay for L since her birthdate that they have is not the date on the birth certificate. They are looking to verify her birthdate before we can get a new social security card. Geez, it is always something!

Murder in a large adoptive family

Has anyone been following the murder of the adoptive parents near Pensacola? Parents of 13 adoptive children (mostly DS, all special needs) and 4 bios. 9 of the children were in the house. Looks like 8 (nonfamily) suspects are going to be charged with homicide.

Wildfire Emergency

Last night we evacuated DH's grandma to our house. There is a wildfire about a mile north of her house and probably closer this morning. It's about three miles from our new town. The crews do not expect containment until Friday and right now they are trying to save all structures. My Dad has Colon Cancer

I took my dad to the hospital yesterday for a 'routine' Colonoscopy and Endoscopy. Had no reason to suspect that anything might be amiss. Much to my shock, the gastroenterologist ushered my mom and I into a conference room to tell that he had cause for concern, he had found a 4 cm tumor. My mom's disease has progressed to the point where she didn't understand what was going on. I was just stunned. Never.entered.my.mind. Took me a bit to compose myself.
