I agree with it in severe cases like the ones mentioned above. In fact, hubby and I have discussed what to do about birth control for S because of her MR and her lack of ability to even care for herself at a teenaged level. We discussed it with her doctor and though we dont' think it's an immediate need, (she hasn't even started having a menstrual cycle yet) when the need arises her doctor is supportive of long term birth control such as an implant or IUD. I had my older girls on BCP by the time they were 15 and I dont' regret it. FOr the special cases I think it is perfectly humane and ethical to require them to be protected from the trauma of a pregnancy.

Oh, and sign me up for that sterilization too.
