I have an adoption license, but not a foster care license (a little different than most here probably). In my class, we focused almost entirely on out of country adoption. Some of the stuff goes for any adoption (keeping things simple, spending lots of one-on-one bonding time, expecting bonding to take time, etc.). However, a lot of it didn't relate to me at all, and they didn't talk about disabilities at all. There are several other families in my agency that I know of who either have adopted or are adopting children with disabilities, but I was the first one for the entire agency. There are actually a lot of families at the agency doing foster care adoptions now, but, again, I was the first.

Though the fig tree may not blossum, nor fruit be on the vines; though the labor of the olive may fail, and the fields produce no food; though the flock may be cut off from the fold, and there be no herd in the stalls-yet I will rejoice in the Lord, I will joy in the God of my salvation.
