I was thinking more about this too. It's not just that the 18yo aren't always prepared to be on their own, it's that they haven't been able to break that pattern imprinted on them from their biofamilies. A lot of the kids who age out came to foster care later in their lives or else had such severe problems that they were unadoptable. This also means more time spent with unhealthy lifestyles with biofamilies.

I think that both FDs I currently have would be the first in their families to graduate from high school. That is, IF they graduate. I still fear something going wrong with those plans. Too many issues in their lives.
