If youth stay in school, they can remain in fostercare here. There are classes and supports to help them, but not consistent adult support for them. Once they choose to leave the system, they have to make it on their own. My kids wouldn't even know how to ask the right questions to get the support they would need without the right caring adults in their lives.

Getting a driver's license is up to the foster parents. The youth can, but the county does not insist. If they have some disabilities, often placement in a group home of sorts helps them maintain support without foster parents.

Aging out is a huge problem. There is little support for these youth. If they switch counties after aging out, then their lifeline is often ended. They cannot move and maintain their supports. If they move, they have reapply and start over again as adults.
