Gregory, the A-A child from DC I have posted about previously, had a similar exercise in 4th grade, for the Presidential election in which George Bush (Daddy) lost his second bid. A number of grades voted. He had decided that Bush was his man. Our district had always gone Democratic. The district only had a handful of white people. He campaigned tirelessly and passionately.

He met me at the bus stop, dejected. "Bush lost, huh?" I asked. "It was terrible! People even wrote in Jesse Jackson and he wasn't in the race. Only one person in the whole school voted for Bush and that was me!"

"Wow, how does that make you feel?"

"Terrible! How can so many people be so wrong?!"

:rollin

Well, his self-esteem problems were fixed!
