Time change
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I think the government should contact parents of special needs children before changing the time! My kids are so messed up now, they are functioning poorly due to this crazy time change. I'm tired after a night where 3 yo slept little.... My 14 yo looked like a zombie when he left this a.m. He was up in plenty of time. Guessing he didn't sleep right either. DH called and said he got so mixed up he got up and got ready for work 2 hours early!

When we first had David our oldest he was in daycare the first time they changed in the fall. He was frantic that I had forgtten him because it got dark out. I just never thought about that?! I felt horrible for not thinking to tell him.

Oh, I agree! I hate the transition..always takes me a couple of weeks to re-adjust. My girls are always confused when it happens.

Thank goodness!

My little one's sleeping pattern was impacted. He actually remarked, "Mommy, why is it 7 o'clock and still light outside?" That led to a conversation about Daylight Savings Time and me looking on the Internet for more information on why we go through the transition and listing for him the states that don't participate.
But for me, it's wonderful. I struggle with depression. The longer days, the daylight, energizes me and really makes me feel like a different person. The change is immediate. This has been a long winter for us, lots and lots of snow, colder than I have recalled in a while. I don't like coming home in the dark. It always leaves me feeling sluggish and like the day is gone. Now I come home and want to sit on the porch, rake the leaves and just be thankful for the extended daylight. It changes me. I suddenly want to accomplish all sorts of things.

We use blackout shades to keep little guy on his sleep schedule, especially as the days grow longer and he's going to bed when it's still light outside.
