Hubby and I just spent all weekend in Denver goign to the core foster care training. I really feel that it was such a waste. We got lots of good stories, but not any realy training. They had a training book that we all got, but it seemed like all they said was read it later. We live far enough away, that I can learn far more if they send me a book or send me to the site online. Plus, they really directed the training to people living in the Denver metro area, not us who live hundreds of miles from civilization!
Then... one person had a q about adopting teens, worrying about costs of college. I pointed out the new law about teens over 14 when adopted don't have to report parents' income... and the trainer had never heard that!
So, first... thanks you all of you on the forum.. you have helped me more than this training ever could!
and secondly, the weekend wasn't a total waste... we had great visits with some family in Denver and almost got snowed in! Fun!
