I have heard of birthmothers deciding where to place their unborn children, but I am working with an agency that includes the birthmother with the adoption of her older children (over five-years old).
I have been asked for a letter to give the birthmother, and I'm not sure where to begin. It is one thing to promote yourself to focus on their unborn child, but how does one write a letter to focus on their older child?
I am a great writer, but I am in a new territory of writing. I am not looking to say (write) everything that the birthmom wants to hear (filled with promises and roses). I am interested in writing what will help the birthmom (and other participants) decide whether or not we would be the ideal match for their children.
Any suggestions as to books, websites, or threads which focus on working with birthparents to decide the future of their older children? Are there such forms of reference out there, or are such supportive venues exclusively for infant adoption?
